Timepass - 1

A question popped up from my small brain today. The question is regarding where France and Japan are originally from. Its kind of a theory of relativity. But not my guru, Einstein kind.
I think most of you will agree with me that France is the fashion capital of the World and Japan is the technology capital of the World. I also hope that you will agree that men are very much inclined to tech stuff and women are more inclined towards fashion stuff. Since men are from Mars and women are from Venus, Does it mean France has its roots from Venus and Japan has its roots to Mars?
Then, where are the other countries from?

Go Bears!!

A cold afternoon, when the forcast predicted a gud 2-3 inches of snow and the mother nature had delivered just what was promised by the weather man. The dark clouds were overcast Chicago not letting the sun fall on the ground.
Suddenly there is a huge roar by a lot of people who gathered there and the lights were swtiched on. Everyone was looking at one guy, who was running carrying it in one hand. There are a lot of people chasing him and trying to stop him from going far. While the partners of the guy running were trying to block the people from stopping the guy from going any further.
Suddenly one of the guy chasing some how manages to penetrate the guys blocking and catches hold of the guy running. The guy running immediately throw it to another guy , who catches it and starts running away from the people chasing. He runs so fast that no one could catch him. Finally when he was about to reach his home the crowd shout "Go Bears! Go Bears!! Go Bears!!!" on top of their voice.
Once he reached his home all his partners come and hit him on his head and do a chest butt. The crowd immediately played the following music.

powered by ODEO
The whole crowd sang the following song along with the above music.
Bear down, Chicago Bears! Make every play clear the way to victory!
Bear down, Chicago Bears! Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown
You're the pride and joy of Illinois. Chicago Bears, bear down!

Streamers were flying left, right and center. People jumping, dancing, singing, shouting, everything. They were all over joyed that their home team have become the NFC champions. Chicago bears are going to Miami for the Super Bowl after 21 years.
Chicago is electrifying after yesterday's victory in the NFC championship, So couldn't refrain from not posting a post on that.
The above scene is about a touch down in a Football match. For more info on Chicago Bears check here.

Striking a balance

Work life balance is becoming an important topic of discussion in the working segment of people. I feel this is a very important term that needs to be discussed in today's situation.
In an Indian IT working environment, the peer pressure is very high. Because of this some people are forced to work more than what they can actually can. Moreover there are a lot of managers who feel working long hours means the person is a hard worker and that person gets better benefits in appraisal compared to a person who works the required hours but still more efficient than the person who works long hours. This mentality of the managers forces the efficient employees to stretch their day just to appear in the good books of their managers.
There is a saying which goes as follows which applies to many workaholics in today's IT industry... Its goes like "Work to live. Don't live to work."
I feel we Indian do not give importance to family when compared to work. Work is important i dont deny that, but work is not the only thing. People need to spend more time with their family and also enjoy doing some hobby.
Extended hours of work can create stress to the employees, especially when the employee does not enjoy doing the work much. Some of the conditions in work force that create job stress are :-
1. Hectic and routine tasks give little sense of control for the employee. Heavy work load and long work hours create stress.
2. Lack of Support from supervisors and coworkers creates stress.
3. If employee has little say on decision making creates stress.
4. If the job expects too much from the employee, it creates stress.
5. If the employee feels there is lack of opportunities for growth and promotion it creates job stress.
6. Working environment such as crowded, noisy or polluted office environment creates stress.
Studies have shown that psychologically demanding jobs put employees at greater risk of cardiovascular disease, greater risk for developing back and upper-extremity musculoskeletal disorders and Psychological disorders.
Some of the suggestions for employers are:
1. Have flexible timing for employees.
2. Option of working from home.
3. Employer regularly doing a review of work life balance of their employees on regular basis.
4. Adequate leave options should be given to the employees.
Employees should also take conscious effort to improve their own work life balance. They should choose to work fewer hours and spending more time with their family.
But I have seen that due to bad estimations and due to heavy competition to win a project, most of the projects are executed in crunch time with lots of slogging by employees. So in order to curb this problem, I feel a union should be started like how it exists in mechanical industry. I feel so because the employee do not have much say if their managers expect them to slog for a project which was estimated badly.

December-May

As you may know, Older woman and younger man relationship is become more of a vogue these days. There are a lot of celebrity couples like this, to name a few, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. Anjali and Sachin Tendulkar.
It seems almost one-third of women between ages 40 and 69 are dating younger men (defined as 10 or more years younger). According to a recent AARP poll, one-sixth of women in their 50s, in fact, prefer men in their 40s.
Tina B. Tessina, Ph.D., a licensed family therapist in practice in Long Beach, Calif., and author of "The Unofficial Guide to Dating Again", tells WebMD that
It's not what you think -- the stamina or "re-boot" ability of the younger male. The women like the flexibility and sense of adventure of their more spontaneous, younger companions

Though this is spreading slowly, its still not being accepted easily in the society.
Why is that the man needs to be older than the woman? Does it really matter who is older in a relationship?
I had one such conversation with my friends recently, so one of my friend was saying that women think matured sooner than men and thats why it is preferred to have the an older man and younger woman relationship. But I was not convinced with the explanation. So when I gave a little thought on this, I was wondering if this trend of older man and younger woman was due to the patriarchy that existed across the World. Due to the patriarchy, they wanted the men to be in full control always and it was easier to achieve if the man was older than the woman. Now that woman are becoming more independent the patriarchy is reducing and thus older woman and younger man relationship has started blooming.
After this thought I was even more curious about the reason and so tried searching the Internet. That is when I came across this Fertility and evolutionary psychology theory in Wikipedia. As per that article women begin to lose their fertility as they enter their late thirties. While men remain fertile until much later in life, although it declines over time. The evolutionary psychology suggests that people are more likely to be attracted to people who look like they might be fertile. But all these being said, I feel these theories would have evolved in recent years. But older man and younger woman relationship has been followed for many years. So I feel my reasoning more convincing than these. What do you think?
Interestingly, there seems to be a folk formula that has been evolved to compute correct disparities of age between older and younger partners, this being "divide by two and add seven", else the relationship is liable to be subject to moral disapprobation. I feel the age disparities suggested by this formula seems more.
