Is this a mere coincidence?
One strange thing that struck my mind today is how come many things are common across the globe. Like the girls name finishes in 'y', 'i' etc. For example In India we have names like Lakshmi etc and similarly I have seen American girls with names such as Amy. Other way of girls names are Anusha, Ramya, etc on similar lines Amanda, Samantha, etc. My Question is how come the girls name finish by sounding 'i', 'y', 'aa' around the World? Is this a mere coincidence or is there some rule that is being followed across the globe?
I find similar coincidence with how we say Mother and Father in different languages. Mother has 'm' sounding in it and father has a 'p' sounding in it. (Examples: English - Mother, Father / Tamil - Amma, Appa / Hindi - Ma, Papa / French - Mere, Pere...) Did all the languages in this world root from one single language?

You know.. I have noticed the very same thing about names... mostly girls' names end in a vowel or a soft consonant... (like in 'Violet') and boys' names almost always have a harsh consonant as their last syllable.. probably the same concept, that calls the female gender the 'weaker' sex, is at work here... hmmpphhh...
as for the 'amma' and 'appa'... the first consonant sound that an infant is able to make properly is 'mmmm'... so probably, mothers began to accept 'mmmm' as their child's name for them... as fpr 'appa' and 'papa'... its because infants think just that of their father's... 'Pah!'
:P
nice blog btw... :-)

@Karta - Yet another way to prove that All are equal :-)
@Anna - Good observation on the names. Seems like you have analysed a step further to that of mine. Quite posible that the nomenclature used was an effect of the male chauvinistic society that existed all through out the world earlier.
I agree with your theory on mothers...thats what even I thought of...
